Odds are that you already have a profile on LinkedIn. If you’re like most people, you may think of it as just an online resume, not a way to grow your business. We have compiled four tips to help you get more out of LinkedIn.

    1. Easily Export LinkedIn Contacts – You’ve connected with people, now what? Did you know you could export that list to Excel? Here’s how:Log in to LinkedIn and then click “Contacts” at the top of the main page.
Then click “Connections”. You’ll get a screen with a scrolling list of all of your contacts. At the top of that box, click “Select: All”. A new scrolling list appears to the right. Below that box, click “Export connections”. That’s it. You now have the email addresses for all of your connections.Don’t spam your connections though. It’s a good practice that when you create an email list, first send everyone a quick email to ask them if they want to be added!
    2. Create a Company Page – Does your company have a page on LinkedIn? It’s free and a good way to bolster your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts. You create a brand optimized company page by first logging in to LinkedIn. Then click “Companies”. On the right side of the next screen is the link to “Add a Company”. You’ll see a standard form where you enter information about your company and upload your logo. You can also add pages for your products and services. Each of these can have links back to your website, which will give your SEO efforts a boost. Adding products and services can get quite involved. Creative Company would be happy to set this up for you, making sure that you get the optimum exposure and your message is targeted to just the right audience. Reach us here.
    3. BONUS TIP #1:  Build Your Contact List – Would you like to grow your contact list? Maybe you’d like to join a group of people in your field. An easy way to do this and make new connections is under “Skills & Expertise” – it’s on the main page under “More”. Enter a skill in the box like “Digital Marketing” and click “Search”. At the top of the results is a job description based on that skill. Below is a list of people associated to this skill. Notice over on the right the chart showing the demographics of people in that skill. There’s a list of related skills on the left. Add these to your profile for even more attention. At the bottom of the screen is a list of related groups that you can join. Join a group!
    4. BONUS TIP #2: Have you ever explored the very cool tool on LinkedIn called Answers? Here you can both ask questions or answer questions from the LinkedIn community. When you ask, you’re going to get multiple answers from people who are experts in the field. The real power here though comes in answering other people’s questions. By answering questions, you start building up your expert status on LinkedIn. People like to work with experts!

LinkedIn can be a lot more than just your online resume. It’s a great tool for creating and broadcasting your targeted message. Creative Company would love to help you craft just the right message and help you get the results you want. Give us a call and let’s see what we can do for you.
